The Christmas Letter
Pairing: 1940s!Bucky x Reader Word Count: 485 Warnings: Nothing? Sad reader and Bucky at war? A/N: Yay!! Happy December!! I’ve been working on this little series of Christmas-themes one shots for a little while now and I’m so excited to finally start sharing them!! This is going to be the first time I’m really sharing my writing here, and I would love your feedback!
2019 Christmas Masterlist
You were huddled around the Barnes’ dining table with Rebecca, Christmas cards and stationary spread across the marred oak. Winnifred could be heard in the kitchen, humming along to a song on the radio.
It had become tradition, since Bucky left for war, that you’d come around the evening of Thanksgiving and write your Christmas cards and letters to friends and family with his family. It made writing to him a little easier, especially since Christmas had been such a special time in your relationship with him.
November 23, 1944
Bucky,
Happy Thanksgiving, Darling. I hope you boys were able to enjoy a little something this year. Everything will be better when you’re home, where I can make you all the fixin’s.
I spent the morning with my family, as usual. It snowed a foot yesterday, so Pa has agreed to let us pick out a Christmas tree this weekend - it’ll be the earliest we’ve had one yet! My parents say hello and are wishing you well, and so is Mary - from the shop, remember? She told me the other day she hopes the war is over soon. She says my sulking, especially around the holidays, scares customers away. I disagree, though I do hope we are reunited soon.
I’m with Becca and your Ma now. Ma invited me to have dinner with them this evening, and it was wonderful. Your Ma managed to get a turkey this year! Becca helped make mashed potatoes, and I even baked a pie from the pumpkins I grew in the garden this year. I know how much you love holiday pies, and promise to make you one the moment you get home.
I hope you like the Christmas card I’ve sent. I remember last year you said you didn’t get it until well after Christmas, so I wanted to send it with this letter in hopes that you get it closer to the day. It’s hard to believe this will be your second Christmas away. It just doesn’t feel the same without you.
They’ve started playing holiday music on the radio already. I think it’s because spirits are low around here. That Crosby song - I’ll Be Home for Christmas - is always playing and it makes me think of you. I hope when you hear it reminds you of me. You’re in my dreams every night, James Barnes, not just on Christmas.
That reminds me! Remember how I told you the bank was thinking of giving Pa a promotion? Well, they did just a few days ago! To celebrate, he’s throwing a Christmas party for his associates. I’m inviting Becca and your Ma, too. I’m saving you a dance, too, just in case you make it home! December 24, don’t you forget!
Tell Steve and the other boys that I say hello and send my best wishes to them. I hope to hear from you soon.
All my love

A Christmas Miracle
Pairing: Bucky x Reader (if you squint) Word Count: 1406 Warnings: Soft!Bucky, mention of sick children, but nothing graphic or anything. Summary: When the Avengers take a day off to help you decorate the children’s hospital you work for, a certain Super Solider feels a little left out.
2019 Christmas Masterlist
“Mr. Stark, I’m glad to see you’re putting your suit to good use,” you laugh as you walk into the hospital lobby. Hovering twenty-five feet in the air is none other than Tony Stark. He turns from the tree in which he was hanging an over-sized red, ceramic bauble and smirks. “I’m not sure why I even bothered having them bring out the ladders!”
Despite their busy schedules of saving the world one alien-invasion at a time, the Avengers had managed to pencil in a tree decorating event for the children’s hospital you work for. You’d reached out to Tony on a whim, knowing how busy he is between being the face of Stark Industries and avenging. So, when Pepper called you two days later confirming the details of the event, you were nothing less than shocked.
“Please, Y/N, how many times do I need to ask you to just call me Tony?” He makes a hasty but careful descent, gliding over to where you’re standing before touching down completely. “Nice of you to finally show your face around here.”
Over his shoulder, you see Pepper setting down a box of ornaments before making her way over. “Oh leave her alone, Tony. She’s a busy woman.” Pepper gives you a quick squeeze before tucking herself into her long-term boyfriend’s side.
You’d known Tony for almost a decade. You’d met him by chance at a career fair in high school, and he ended up offering you your first internship during your freshman year of college. You’d somehow wormed your way into both Tony and Pepper’s hearts, and they unofficially officially adopted you as part of their tech-empire family.
“Tony, aren’t you gonna introduce us to the pretty lady?” you hear someone from the group, Sam Wilson you believe, call from amongst the boxes of Christmas chaos.
Tony rolls his eyes before pulling you into his other side. “Yea, yea, shove it, Pelican Brain.” You attempt to stifle a chuckle as Sam grumbles to himself. “Team, meet Y/N. Y/N, meet the team.
A chorus of “hello” and “nice to meet you” erupts from the little gang of superheroes. You’re pleased with the fact that almost every familiar face could show, along with some you knew but couldn’t quite place. The tallest, and arguably the most enthusiastic of the bunch, Captain America, is the first to break away towards you.
“Steve Rogers,” he says as he grasps your hand in a firm handshake. “It’s a pleasure, ma’am. I think what you guys do here, for the sick kids and all...it’s really great. If treatment like this was as accessible and advanced back in the twenties - hell I might not be standing here right now!”
“We get it, big guy, you’re old. Stop hogging her,” Tony shoos Steve away. “As Pep said, she’s a very busy woman who doesn’t have time to listen to your origin story.”
“Well actually,” you chuckle. “I’ve managed to clear my schedule for the rest of the afternoon, so I’ll be able to help out when some of our patients come down!”
“Patients? Like, the kids?” another voice pipes up from the tree.
You all turn to find none other than Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier himself, peeking around from behind the tree. There was glitter stuck in his long hair, and he had a small strand of garland draped over his shoulders. You can’t help but wonder how this man was ever one of the most feared assassins in the world.
“Uh, yes the kids,” Tony snarks, rolling his eyes. “We’re at a children’s hospital, Tinsel Man, what did you expect?”
Bucky plucks the garland from his body and tosses it into a pile of boxes. “I just...kids don’t really like me. I didn’t know they were going to be here helping us.”
You quickly jump in, in an attempt to ease his worry. “The children are excited to meet all of you. I can promise there are a few boys and girls who can relate to you on some level and will love getting to spend time with you!”
Bucky found you weren’t necessarily wrong. The children were excited to see the one and only Avengers in the flesh. There were kids dressed up in Captain America pjs, Iron Man stickers on various casts, and one little girl even had a Black Widow temporary tattoo she couldn’t wait to show off to Natasha.
And, while none of the kids necessarily avoided Bucky, they weren’t going out of their way to show off their “battle scars” as you’d come to call them. He understood why with his appearance not being the exact definition of warm and fuzzy. But he had scaled it back on the black today, and he’d made sure to pull all the crazy hair out of his face because he knew how intimidating meeting new people could be when you couldn’t get a good look at their face.
As the afternoon of decorating started coming to a close, just a few patients - ones that were either outpatient and had just shown up, or had been in treatment during the earlier part of the day - were hanging around. It had grown pretty quiet with only a few interruptions of laughter coming from a small group of kids huddled around Steve and Sam. Bucky watched on happy to see his two best friends were enjoying an afternoon off, seemingly releasing the weight of the world’s problems from their shoulders.
Since he wasn’t otherwise occupied, he decided he was going to start packing up some of the unused decorations. He’d never admit to it, but the organization helped him clear his mind sometimes.
“Mr. Barnes,” Bucky hears from behind him. He stands from where he was digging in a box of faux candy canes and turns around to find you standing with a little girl. She looks terrified, but not in the way that Bucky was used to. More shy than fear, and it made him feel good.
“Please, just call me Bucky,” he chuckles.
“Okay, Bucky,” you smile and he’s sure it’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. “I wanted to introduce you to one of your biggest fans. This is one of our outpatient kids. She doesn’t stay here often, but we have regular appointments with her!”
Bucky bends down so that he’s eye-level with Cali. He had to admit a sweet-looking girl like her favoring him of all the Avengers was a surprise.
“Hi, Cali,” he smiled, extending his hand for a gentle shake. She looks up to you for assurance before stepping around your legs to inspect Bucky fully. “How are you?”
“She’s a bit shy, but I promise she’s excited,” you laugh. “Go on, he’s not going to bite!”
Giggles erupt from a group of children who are huddled around Steve, and it seems to break Cali’s reservations about Bucky. Instead of accepting his hand, she goes in for a full-on hug, almost knocking down the surprised super-soldier.
“I have a fake arm too,” she whispers into his neck, and his surprised laugh falters a bit.
“Wh-what?” He leans back just enough to see her face, and she nods. Holding up her left arm, she pulls the sleeve back to expose a prosthetic. Hers is less noticeable, complete with flesh-colored material so that it doesn’t stand out to the prying eye.
“She’s kind of why the hospital has such a great relationship with Mr. Stark. He was kind enough to donate funds to build her an arm similar to yours,” you gesture to the arm Bucky is now closely examining. “There’s nerve sensors and everything, so she still has sensation - can feel warmth and cold, all of that.”
“Amazing,” Bucky whispers, looking from Cali’s arm to her face. “Do you know how special this is?”
Cali grins and they’re obviously having a moment, so you decide to leave them to it. As you make your way over to one of the many lobby couches, exhausted from an afternoon of excitement, Tony makes a surprise landing.
“I guess he’s not bad all the time,” he chuckles, looking over your shoulder to the tender scene unraveling in front of him. “Might be the little Christmas miracle Inspector Gadget needed this year.”
You bite your lip in an attempt to hide the wide grin that threatened to split across your face. "I'm glad we could help."

Winter Wonderland
Pairing: Bucky x Reader Word Count: 1554 Warnings: Soft Bucky. Some fluff (even though I’m still finding my footing in fluff) A/N: Here’s day two! Don’t forget to tell me what you think! And if you missed day one, you can find it in the masterlist!
2019 Christmas Masterlist
Bucky woke with a start, momentarily unfamiliar with his surroundings. It wasn’t until he felt the warm mass curled up next to him and heard the sound of a cheery Christmas melody looping in the background that he realized he was in your room.
Movies nights with you had quickly become one of Bucky’s favorite days of the week. It was the one constant in his life he could always look forward to lately, and he was eternally grateful. He wasn’t, however, grateful for always falling asleep in your bed.
Despite the progress he’d made over the past several months, nightmares still occasionally plagued him. Fighting off the darkness that clouded the deepest recesses of his mind wasn’t a scene he wanted to subject you to. Fortunately, you were a heavy sleeper.
He looks down at you, curled up to his side, fist gently bunched in his cotton sleep shirt. He couldn’t resist the smile that spread across his face at the sight. You always seemed to have that effect on him.
As gently as he could, Bucky stretched out to grab the remote that was resting next to you. Reacting as his movement, you tighten your hold on his shirt a little. He flicks off the t.v., cutting off the Blu-Ray’s title screen before it can start its jingle bell song again. As much as he wanted to stay, he knew he couldn’t.
“Doll,” he says quietly, gently running his hand over the cheek that isn’t currently smushed against him. You nuzzle into his touch, chasing the warmth of his flesh fingers. “I gotta get up.”
You whine slightly, barely awake, and shuffle closer - as if that were even possible. Even though you’d never admit it, you were a desperate cuddler sometimes. It’s one of the things he loved about you, even though he’d never admit that.
“Stay,” you mumble as you bury your face deeper into his chest.
Bucky chuckles and brushes the hair blanketing your face. “As much as I’d love that, I promised Steve I would join him on his run tomorrow. He’s gonna come knockin’ at my door, and if I don’t answer I’ll never hear the end of it.”
“Stupid Stevie,” you grumble again before releasing your grip on his shirt just a little. Bucky could tell you were already starting to drift off again, so he took the chance to carefully extract himself from you.
Before he can completely wiggle himself off your bed, you’re nestling into the warmth he’s left behind, hugging the pillow he’d just been resting on close. He smiles down at the sight, his chest warming just a little at the cute, sleepy puffs of breath escaping you as you drift fully back into unconsciousness.
“Sleep tight, pretty girl,” he whispers as he pulls your quilt up snuggly around you. Before he can think twice about it, he leans down and places a gentle kiss to your hairline.
One of these days, he thinks to himself, I’ll finally tell her how I feel. But tonight is not that night.
Before heading off to his own room, Bucky heads down to the kitchen to grab a midnight snack. The extra-large bowl of popcorn you’d split earlier in the night just wasn’t cutting it for him. The sight that welcomes him, however, has him considering turning around and heading right back to your room.
Looking out the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, Bucky can see the large flakes of snow dusting everything in sight. There isn’t much, just enough to leave a faint whisper of white on the grass below, but he doesn’t care. All he knows is he has to wake you up. You’d been moping around for the past week complaining because it’s December in Upstate freaking New York for crying out loud, there should be snow.
The rational part of his brain tells him to just wait until morning. But when it comes to you, Bucky’s never rational, so why start now?
He practically sprints back to your room, taking the steps three at a time as he goes. You’re still curled up the way he left you just minutes ago, and he second-guesses himself for a split second because god, how could he disturb such an angelic scene? Fuck it.
“Y/N,” he whispers, shaking your arm gently. “Hey, wake up. I got a surprise for you.”
He watches as your eyes flutter behind your lids. He shakes you again, this time with more authority, and that seems to do the trick. Your eyes blink open, momentary annoyance flashes across your face before you realize it’s Bucky. The scowl is replaced with a groggy smile.
“What’s up, buttercup?” Your voice is scratchy from sleep and Bucky thinks he might pass out if you keep talking like that.
“Come on, get up. Grab your coat and gloves. I have a surprise!”
You don’t question him further, simply do as he asks because you just trust him. He’ll never understand what he’s done for you to put so much faith in him, but he won’t question it.
He’s rummaging through your neat rows of shoes looking for your snow boots when you come up behind him.
“Where are we goin’?”
Bucky doesn’t answer, simply thrusts your boots into your hands. “Here, put these on and meet me at my room in five.”
You appear not even the full five minutes later all bundled up, complete with the wool scarf he brought back as a present from a mission in Scotland, and one of his hats you’d swiped last year.
He isn’t quite as bundled, but he doesn’t have to worry about getting cold like you do. Super-soldier and all. He does throw on a pair of gloves, and something a little warmer than his usual leather jacket.
“Ready?” he asks, reaching a gloved hand out for you to take. You smile and grasp it firmly, causing warmth to spread through his veins.
He pulls the hat over your eyes and starts leading you to the elevators at the end of the hall. “Bucky!” you giggle as your shuffle behind him. “What has gotten into you?”
He only hums his response as he smashes the down button over and over, daring the elevator to move just a little faster.
Once on the ground floor, Bucky leads you to one of the side doors. This particular one opens up to an open field, perfect for enjoying the flurries unobstructed.
“Can I look now?” you quietly ask once you’ve realized you’d stopped. You can feel a slight nip in the air, and you shiver into Bucky. He takes the momentary closeness as his opportunity to push the hat away from your eyes.
He can see the child-like wonder on your face through the reflection of the glass door. Watches as your sleepy smile grows so wide he’s sure it’s going to split your face open. He can’t but preen a little, knowing he’s the one that helped put that look there.
“I, uh, I know you’ve been waiting for it to snow and all so I thought….” he trails off as he rubs the back of his neck self-consciously. “I didn’t want to wait ‘till morning’.”
“Bucky Barnes, you are the sweetest human being I have ever met,” you practically squeal as you throw yourself into him, wrapping your arms around his solid middle.
Before he can reciprocate the hug, though, you’ve peeled yourself away and are running out the door. You don’t care that it’s nearly three in the morning and that you have a meeting with Director Fury at 0600. No, all you care about is the snow, and the overly-caring, way too sentimental man watching you from the doorway.
You hold out your hand to beckon him over, and he’s in front of you in three long strides. You hug him again, this time allowing him to return the gesture, and bask in his warmth. It takes everything in you to fight back the little happy tears that prick at the corner of your eyes.
“Thank you,” you whisper into his chest. “I really needed this.”
You look up when he doesn’t immediately answer, surprised when you’re met with a blue-eyed gaze so intense you're sure it could melt the snow around you. You bite your lip and watch as his eyes flick down to your mouth then back up.
Before you can stop yourself, you’re up on your tiptoes, pushing your lips gently into his. He’s surprised momentarily before his mind catches up. His left hand quickly finds its way to the back of your hair as the right snakes around your waist. He doesn't hesitate to deepen the kiss, and you can’t help but feel like he’s been wanting this as bad as you have.
You break away first, needing to catch your breath. He doesn’t let you get far though, keeps his forehead pressed against yours to keep you close. You can see the little crinkles around his eyes as smiles down at you.
“If I knew you’d react like this, I would have found a way to make it snow back in July!”
You swat his chest playfully before he captures your mouth in another kiss. It might, just might, be a better surprise than the snow.

Vlogmas Day 1
Pairing: Bucky x Reader Word Count: 2,232 Warnings: Disgustingly sweet Bucky. Feelings of self-doubt and all-around relationship insecurity. Summary: You’re a prominent YouTuber. You’re also dating one of the most popular of the Avengers. What happens when you decide to merge these two aspects of your life? Christmas content, that’s what.
2019 Christmas Masterlist
“Uh, is this thing on?”
Bucky is fumbling with the camera you had meticulously set up on the opposite side of your kitchen island. You’d somehow convinced him to star in one of your Christmas videos this year, despite the fact he still wasn’t entirely sure what exactly you do with them. You were just happy he was trying to embrace the tech-centered side of your life
“You don’t need to stand so close,” you giggle as you finish setting out various Christmas candies. Tonight, you’d be filming a gingerbread house decorating competition video with him, and you did not shy away from getting all the fixings. “In fact, I’m going to need you to step away from the camera before you ruin my setup!”
Bucky peers into the little lens once more before he turns back to make his way around the island. You shake your head as he stops to give you a chaste kiss before settling in next to you. “Such a sap,” you whisper under your breath, knowing full well he can hear you. Adding a little louder for the camera, “I’m leaving that in for my viewers to see, I hope you know. Gotta let everyone know you’re not as big and scary as you try to come off.”
Bucky grasps at his chest feigning hurt, sending a cheeky wink towards the camera. “Just don’t tell Sam, I’ll never live it down.”
You roll your eyes and smile before getting serious again. It was already ten at night and you knew this was entire process was going to take at least two hours. You were antsy to get this filmed and over with so that you could get some cuddle time with your man. Bucky had been gone for a week, so there was a lot of time to make up for.
You double-check that the little red light is still on, indicating that the camera is still recording, and take a breath. “So, just a warning, this is going to seem a little...weird.” You’d never felt self-conscious about your YouTube channel when it came to Bucky. Even though he didn’t really understand what you did or how it allowed you to make money, he still supported it. He never had much interest in watching your videos, not that the content was relevant to his life anyway, so the persona you put on for the camera was more than likely going to be a shock for him.
“I uh, act a little different on camera, just to let you know. Not like fake or anything, but a little more high-energy than you’re probably used to seeing. And honestly I’m a little nervous doing this with you, in front of you, so like, I’m sorry if you’re weirded out by everything. I promise I’ll never make you do another video again if you don’t want to an-”
“Baby, shh,” Bucky cuts of your rambling, rubbing a hand up and down your arm in comfort. “You know I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t want to. And anyway,” he adds with a snicker, “I may have unintentionally overheard Wanda watching a video or two a few weeks back so this isn’t going to be anything new.”
You can feel the pink spread up your neck and onto your cheeks. Even though it made you feel a little better about getting started, you were still slightly embarrassed that he had heard one of your videos without you knowing. You take a deep breath in an attempt to center yourself before looking back at Bucky. “Okay then. Ready?” He gives a quick nod and you start in on your spiel.
“Hi everyone! Welcome back to my channel and happy holidays!” You internally cringe at how overly excited and fake your voice sounds. “Today I have a very, very special guest with me. This is James-”
Bucky snorts, cutting you off before you can continue. “Since when do you call me James?”
You huff half-heartedly but smile and wrap your arms around his muscular middle. “Or, as the rest of the world knows him, Bucky Barnes!” You turn to him fully then, poking a finger to his chest. “No more interrupting or I’m going to have to start this over until it’s perfect.”
Bucky grabs your hand and brings it to his lips. “Everything you do is perfect, doll.”
“You’re only sweet talkin’ me ‘cause you know I’m going to kick your ass at this decorating!”
You don’t leave room for him to argue, however, immediately turning your attention back to the camera.
“Today, after some begging and promising of all the leftover candy, Bucky has agreed to debut his YouTube skills in a friendly gingerbread house competition.” You reach for the pre-made gingerbread house you’d already unpackaged and nod at Bucky to do the same for his. “Here are the very plain, very pitiful houses we’ll be working with today.”
“Are you sure these are edible?” Bucky asks as he leans down to inspect his a little further. He crinkles his nose as he straightens back up. “It smells like plastic.”
“The goal of this is not to eat the house, dear. It’s to kick your butt and show my viewers that I’m the superior house decorator!”
“That’s so wasteful.” He begins in on one of his ‘I lived through the Depression’ speeches before abruptly stopping. “You really think you can beat me at this, don’t you?” He narrows his eyes at you and you can’t help but laugh.
You lean up on your tippy-toes to place a kiss on his cheek. “I still love you, though.”
Bucky rolls his eyes but smiles and leans into the kiss. He can’t stay even remotely annoyed when you’re around.
“Anyway,” you say turning back to the camera, “the premise of this is pretty simple. We’re each going to decorate our respective house, and at the end, you, the viewers, are going to vote for who’s is the best by commenting.” You turn to look at Bucky then. “That way it’s a fair victory.”
Twenty-minutes and a lot of giggles and candy-eating later, you’re both adding the finishing touches on your houses. You had to admit, Bucky’s didn’t look that bad. He had made a fair point earlier, mentioning that he did attend a few art classes with Steve before he was drafted for the war. He’d drawn a little pattern on the roof of his house with the frosting, embellishing it with peppermint candies and a few hot chocolate Kisses. Yours, however, did have a gumdrop garden, and that had to give you some points, right?
You were watching Bucky in your peripheral, could see how concentrated he was hunched over his little gingerbread creation. He was focusing so hard on placing mini M&Ms along the roof. “Like those Christmas lights Tony puts on his cabin!” he had exclaimed when the idea popped in his head. He didn’t even notice when you stopped working on your own decorating and turned your full attention to him.
It still surprised you, sometimes, that this mass of a man, once the world’s most successful and feared assassin, was really just a big softy. It made your heart want to burst to know that you were one of the lucky few who got to see this side of Bucky all the time. It felt like your own little secret world and now that you thought about it, you were a little nervous to give this side of him away, even just through a video.
“You know,” you say nervously as you go back to piping frosting haphazardly around the house. “A lot of people are probably going to see this video…”
“Mhhm?” Bucky responds but doesn’t dare break his concentration.
“Like, maybe 570,000…” You bite your lip when he glances up at you, bright blue eyes asking the question he isn’t going to verbalize. “So?” you can hear him say. “I’m just a little...scared isn’t the word, but neither is nervous. I mean, this is going to be the first time any of my subscribers are going to learn about you. We’ve kind of lived in this little world for what, a year and a half and I’m scared it’s going to change when I post this.”
Bucky set down the bowl of candies then as turned his full attention on you. “You mean you’ve never mentioned me before?”
“I mean, I’ve insinuated I have a boyfriend, and Tweet about you all the time.” You smile then, knowing Bucky’s full-out hate for the social platform. “But I’ve never mentioned you by name before. Not even what you do.”
A hint of something flashes across Bucky’s face. Disappointment? His own fear? You’re not sure, but you can already guess where his mind is going. “It’s not because I’m embarrassed by you if that’s what you’re thinking! I guess I just...I didn’t want you or your friends, or even my followers to think I’m just using you for views or subscribers. Because I’m not. I love you, really love you, and the whole influencer or whatever bullshit side of my life doesn’t even come to mind when I think of you.”
You shrug, not sure where you’re going exactly with the spiel. “I just don’t want the introduction into this side of my life to change anything, I guess.”
Bucky reaches out to rub a comforting hand up and down your arm before fully enveloping you in a hug. "Hey now, since I've known you I've never once seen you care so much about what other people think."
He pulls away just enough to look down at you. "Trust me, I know how hard it is to not pay attention to what other people are saying about you, but you can't listen to them. The only thing that matters, especially in our relationship, is what we think about each other. And right now I'm thinking about how cute you look with frosting on your nose."
You reach up and rub at your nose, confused when you pull away with a clean hand. "Wha-?"
Before you can register what he's doing, Bucky is smearing a glob of the sugary paste across your nose. "See, just as cute as I thought!"
You swat at him as he leans in to kiss you, but you easily relent. Leave it to Buck to take a sour situation and make it sweet.
You practically bolt from the elevator when it stops on the residential floor of the Tower. You’d called Bucky about 20 minutes ago making sure he was home, and when he said he didn’t have anything planned for the day, hightailed it the few blocks from your apartment.
You peer around the open-concept living area and spot the super-soldier in question. You basically launch yourself at his unsuspecting form lying belly-down on the couch. “Bucky!”
“Do-” You cut him off as you jump on top of his wide back.
“I have news,” you see as you lean over to look him in the face, hair creating a curtain around your faces. “Good and bad. What do you want first?”
Bucky chuckles as he maneuvers you so that he can roll over to face you. “Uh, good I guess..?”
I lean down and peck his lips before kissing the tip of his nose just because you can. “My viewers love you. In fact, they think you’re the best thing that’s ever been on my channel. To hell with me, they only want to see you!” You’re not entirely sure why this makes you so happy. You already knew everyone was going to love him, how could they not? But the reality of it all, the fact that he is not officially part of every aspect of your life makes you giddy.
Bucky laughs, really laughs, and you can tell how happy that makes him. Acceptance is still something he struggles with and, even though he didn’t let it show when you were filming, he was definitely nervous about the entire thing. “And the bad news?”
You cross your arms and give your best pout, but you already know Bucky can see right through it. “All this love for you also means that you win.” You huff when his eyes light up.
“Yes!” Bucky shoots his metal arm into the air, almost knocking you off his lap. “I knew it! And you said you were superior.”
“Are y’all talking about you filmed the other night?” you hear Sam ask as he plops down on the couch opposite you, a bowl of ice cream in hand.
“Yes. The people have spoken and I win.” You roll your eyes as Bucky gloats.
“Nah man, yours looked like horse shit. I voted for Y/N. Did you see that gumdrop garden?”
“Thank you!” you laugh and stick your tongue out at Bucky. “Wait, you guys watched it?”
Bucky shrugs as he pokes at your tongue. “I was interested in what I look like on camera. Turns out, I look damn good. I should start one of these things!”
You groan as you lean back into Bucky’s chest, but you can’t help but smile at the same time. Maybe introducing your boyfriend to the YouTube world wasn’t the worst thing. Plus, you could use some help with even more Christmas videos you had planned for the year.
